Here is a list of frequently asked questions about Search2Give. If you cannot find your question here just drop us an email at and we'll do our best to answer your question as quickly as possible.



How do I raise money for my favourite charity using Search2Give?

To raise money for your charity with Search2Give you have to:
  1. Type in the name of your charity in the search box at the top left of your browser and press enter
  2. Every time you search the web money is given to your charity


How do I choose my charity?

You can select your charity at the top left of any Search2Give page. Simply type in which charity you'd like to support and click on its name.

If your charity is not listed on Search2Give, you can suggest it to us here and we'll try and add it as soon as possible.

Alternatively, you can view an A-Z list of all charities that have signed up with Search2Give and pick one from the list. You can change the charity you support at any time.


How much money does Search2Give give to charity?

We give 50% of the money we make from advertising to charity. We pay any payment processing fees that may be incurred, so the charity will get the whole 50%.


What happens to the other 50%?

We spend the other 50% on marketing, promotion, staff wages, our offices, and technical, media, and development costs.


How do I find out how much has been raised for my charity?

When you select a charity you will see the charity name in the top left of your browser. It also shows how much money has been raised for that charity by all supporters of that charity.


Where does the money come from?

Just like any other search engine, we make our money by displaying relevant advertisements on our results pages. We then give 50% of this to charities.


Do I have to pay to use Search2Give?

No, Search2Give is completely free for to use.


Will the search results be any different to Google?

Search2Give is powered by Yahoo! Search which offers virtually identical search results to Google, so your searching experience will not really be any different.


When are charities paid?

When the amount raised for a charity reaches £15 that charity is eligible to receive payment. We review payments to charities quarterly, so if the amount raised is greater than £15 when we do our review then we will pay that charity the amount owed. Does Search2Give remember my charity?

Yes! When you select your charity, Search2Give puts a cookie on your computer which remembers the charity you're supporting. Search2Give will remember your charity unless you remove your cookies from your computer, or click 'Change charity.' If this occurs just re-select your charity.


Can I use Search2Give to support more than one charity?

You can only support one charity at any one time. If you wish to support multiple charities you will have to manually change between charities you support.

If you do not support a charity then your contributions will be divided evenly among all charities.


I get the message 'cookies must be enabled to support a charity'

I'd like to promote my favourite charity on Search2Give. What can I do?

There are lots of ways you can promote your favourite charity. Every charity has it's own unique Search2Give link. When someone clicks on this link they will be taken to the Search2Give homepage and will automatically be supporting the charity you choose. You can use the tool on the get involved page to get the link. You could use this link in any of the following:

  1. Twitter - Follow us and tweet about us. We spend so much time on here - we love to chat.
  2. Put a Search2Give banner or logo on your website. You can find a list of logos here. You can alter the code and put the unique charity link in to make full use of this.
  3. Facebook - Become a fan of Search2Give and tell your fans as well. You can also promote your chosen charity directly on our page using your unique charity link.


How do I set Search2Give as my default search engine?

You can set us as your default search engine by doing the following:


If you're using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox:
  1. Click the arrow next to the search box in the top left of your browser
  2. Select 'Search2Give' from the drop-down list

If you're using Google Chrome:
  1. Click the spanner in the top right of your browser
  2. Click 'Options'
  3. In the 'Search' section, click 'Manage'
  4. Select 'Search2Give' and click 'Make default'
